October 3, 2018 7:30 p.m. in Cook Recital Hall at Michigan State University, Professor of Flute Richard Sherman and pianist Casey Robards present a recital featuring works by J. S. Bach, Jospeh Schwantner, Walter Gieseking, Edward German, Norman Dello Joio, and John LaMontaine. 

​September 27, 2018 at 4:00-5:30 p.m. join Jeffrey Khaner, principal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, for a free masterclass at the University of Michigan, in the Cady Room, Stearns Building. 

September 26, 2018 at 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the MSU Main Library Green Room (4 West). MSU Libraries and the Community Music School (East Lansing) are hosting MSU alumnus (2016) and flutist, Dr. Chelsea Koziatek, in a free lecture: An Introduction to Gastromusicology. Dr. Koziatek's interdisciplinary research highlights the intersections of music and food in society. To accompany the lecture, Dr. Koziatek will be joined Tia Harvey, MSU percussionist and Chef Jay Ravani, hospitality alumnus (2005), in a food and music symbiosis concert dinner featuring four musical selections and a four-course tapas menu inspired by music. July 29, 2018 at 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Crystal Conference Center (E Shore Dr., 2365, Frankfort, Michigan, 49635) the Winds of The Woods (a.k.a. The Grosse Ile Quintet) - Carole Scott (flute) Nancy Gruits (oboe), Lisa Dills (clarinet), Dianne Newberry, (French horn) and Heather Gladden (bassoon)- bring quintet magic to musical presentations near and far, including but not limited to: all types of special events, school assemblies, band instrument coaching, weddings, church service music, “Volunteering it Forward” in the community, and musicale soirees. Since their founding in 2016, this quintet --with nearly 200 years of combined solo, teaching and orchestral experience-- has been constantly twisting their musical kaleidoscope to find new and interactive ways to bring old wine in new bottles to the unsuspecting public. With arrangements of traditional folk music, movie themes, classical and pop genres, there are surprises at every turn, as well as tried and true favorites for your enjoyment. A free will donation will be used to "Pay it Forward" in the community.
